I am not the man you think I am

From the series of 100 portraits painted on Indian cotton rag. In this series Stephen fuses drawing and painting thus blurring the line between contemporary portraiture. Each work tells a story a complex one at that, with meaning coded through multiple layers. In the first instance the figure maybe a reference to, or representation of, a specific invidual, real or imagined. In part a facet of himself, his feelings in the moment of painting.
