Brotha of the G-Funk
Brotha of the G-Funk
This is one of the first drawings in the series of works in Ink on Khadi paper (Made in India) cotton rag, 640gms.
Brotha of the G-Funk is a portrait that draws on the diverse beauty of the Afro Caribbean and challenges the concept of standard blackness. This body of work was produced during lockdown 2021, but also heavily influenced from the music I was listening to at whilst making the work. P-Funk, Funk and G-Funk was being played a lot as well as re-watching a lot of Blackploitation films from the 1970's. I was interested in looking at how fashion changes and evolves but also how facials fetures change and evolve.
