From the series of 50 portraits beautiful painted on Indian cotton rag. In this series Stephen fuses drawing and painting this blurring the line between contemporary portraiture. Produced during  very creative period whilst in lockdown and post 2020-2022

Each work tells a story a complex one at that, with meaning coded through multiple layers. In the first instance the figure maybe a reference to, or representation of, a specific invidual, real or imagined. In part a facet of himself, his feelings in the moment of painting.
