I radiate beauty and abundance

This series of five portraits in this series represents working-class Black youth and men whose lives have been shaped by systems of exclusion and misrecognition. Created through direct engagement with young people at risk of expulsion or criminalisation, the works respond to the damage caused by imposed labels and institutional failure. Yet these portraits are not about victimhood, they speak instead to resilience, beauty, and humanity layered beneath the surface of an oppressive society. The eyes carry the narrative weight of each painting, holding individual stories rendered in oil, ink, and mixed media.
